Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy
Covers damage to vehicles and third parties in return for a premium.
Concept of Coverage
Ta’awuniya Insurance Company provides motor insurance for commercial and private vehicles. The policy covers the vehicle against risks it may face, and/or damages that may affect third parties or their property, according to the terms stated in each policy, in return for a premium (each policy separately).
Types of Coverage
This service offers two separate policies:
- Third Party Policy (Mandatory Insurance)
This policy covers civil liability toward third parties in cases of bodily injury, death, or material damage to third-party property resulting from the use of the vehicle by the insured or an authorized driver with the insured’s permission.
Note: This policy represents the minimum legally required motor insurance under Sudan’s traffic law and is a basic condition for operating a vehicle on the road.
- Comprehensive (Complementary) Policy
This policy covers losses or damages to the vehicle body, including loss or damage resulting from collision or overturning, fire, external explosion, theft or attempted theft, transporting the vehicle by any means provided the Company is notified in writing before transport, and acts caused by third parties.
By agreement, additional covers may be included such as riots and disturbances, natural disasters, driver and passengers, and vehicle accessories/devices (e.g., radio, recorder, etc.).
Note: This service is subject to additional terms and exclusions stated on the reverse of the comprehensive motor policy issued by the Company.
Enrollment Requirements
To subscribe, the insured must obtain the motor insurance application form and complete it carefully, also complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) form, and provide:
- Proof of identity.
- Vehicle search/verification certificate.
- Vehicle sale contract (if applicable).
- Driving license.
- Present the vehicle for inspection.
Claims (Compensation) Procedures
In case of an accident, the insured must notify the Company, fill and sign the accident declaration form, and provide:
- The original policy (and confirm it is valid).
- The original police/traffic report.
- Vehicle search/verification certificate.
- A copy of the driving license.
The Company’s representative or a licensed engineer inspects the damaged vehicle and prepares a report detailing damages and parts to repair/replace. Repairs are coordinated with the Company.
- Bodily injury/death compensation is settled according to the policy type and applicable terms/limits, based on ratios determined by relevant health authorities.
- For the comprehensive policy, the sum insured should reflect market value; otherwise, proportional (average) settlement applies and the insured bears part of the loss.
